UK's Ivy Bean, 104, Is World's oldest Twitter User
Twitter has no doubt got everyone crazy about it. 140 characters short update messages has driven people mad for it. Now everyone is twittering and most of the breaking newses first make highlights on twitter.
But the true addiction of twitter and it’s fan following can now be judged. Ivy Bean is a 104 years old woman and lives in a care home in Bradford, has 4,800 friends on Facebook, reports The Sun. She has become the oldest twitter user of UK but I think it also makes her the oldest twitter user in the world. As there are no other reporting of any old person using twitter.
But we might see other old people using twitter in future. Let’s see who beats this tough record. This brings one more interesting question, who is the world’s youngest twitterer?
You can follow Ivy on Twitter at here.
But after knowing twitter she is preferring twitter over facebook.
She recently posted her first updates, take a look at her twitter stream.
Everyone is getting inspired by Ivy at Hillside Manor care home in Bradford. Ivy is an Ex-Mill worker and she called in The Geek Squad to help her understand twitter.
Boss Martin Dix said: “It’s brilliant to help someone as inspirational as Ivy to get started and teach her about Twitter. “She shows others that you shouldn’t be frightened of technology.”
Manager Pat Wright said: “All the residents are taking a leaf out of her book.
“Four signed up for computer college.
“Others have joined Facebook or surf the net and enjoy themselves with ten-pin bowling on the games console.”
Twitter is becoming a house hold name these days due to celebrities like President Barack Obama, Singer Britney Spears and Actor Asthon Kuthcer have joined twitter and instantly stay in touch with their fans.
Youngsters are more appealed to twitter but recent stat figures show that people aged 45-50 are it’s leading users.
The Geek Squad has dubbed today Silver Surfers’ Day.
It aims to use it to encourage more elderly people to get online and start connecting with friends and family around the globe.
