25 Outstanding Examples Of Black And White Photography
Black and white is a number of monochrome forms in visual arts. Most forms of visual technology start out in black and white, then slowly evolve into color as technology progresses. All photography was originally monochrome, most of these photographs were black and white. Even after color film was readily available, black and white photography continued to dominate for decades, due to its lower cost and its “classic” photographic look. [citation]

nice B/W tone photo….
One man’s junk, as they say. If you don’t like ‘em, post yours to show the world what “outstanding” means. Cartier-Bresson and Adams (as well as Walker, Weston, and any other *real* photographer you can name) all had lame shots, too.
Money. Mouth. Post ‘em.
I tend to agree. #6 no doubt is IR, but I rather like #10-Paris. (a fond memory)
Your last line.
“Look up a few of the B&W masters and check out their work”.
Who are your ‘B&W Masters’.?
I’m not trying to be elitist, I am just very interested in your ‘Masters’.
I value your opinion.
Regards,
Stu Garfath
I love your photographs, especially the animal portraits. That’s something I haven’t explored. All of my photographs were shot in black and white because I feel there is so much emotion attached to them. However, lately I have tinted several of my photographs and like them.

Monochrome photography has retained its charm.. I always like black and white photography since I feel that these can bring out the emotions properly from the subject.. I particularly like winding staircase.. the effect created by the photo is amazing.. awesome photographs..
Really great examples. I shoot in black and white, its just so uncluttered.
Here are some great examples.

Does anyone know the artist who did this photograph?

Help please,
Dan
I find many of these are great b/w photographs.
I do find however that some would have worked better in color. But that is just a very personal opinion.
Today B/W is being used because color would distract from the matter in the photo, or, because it is a better way to show the content of the image instead of using color. That is my way of looking at it anyways. So, “taking away” the color, or photographing in b/w does not make a good photograph automatically a good b/w photograph.
What do you think??

#8 is a b&w version of the we came as romans album cover.
